Physics Explorations: The Core Curriculum

Welcome to a different way of looking at the universe. At Centripetal Education, we don’t believe in memorizing formulas just to pass a test. We believe in exploration—using active inquiry, modeling, and deep dives to truly understand the fundamental rules that govern our world.

Starting this September, we are offering three distinct thematic explorations. Each journey is self-contained, hands-on, and designed to build a powerful intuitive grasp of physics.

1. Mechanics, Motion, and Energy

Before you can predict where something is going, you have to understand exactly how it moves. This exploration lays the foundational groundwork for all of physics, taking you from the geometry of movement to the invisible forces that drive it.

  • Key Themes: Kinematics (the description of motion), Newton’s Laws of Motion, work, power, and the conservation of energy and momentum.
  • The Big Picture: You will learn to decode the physical rules of everyday life—from the trajectory of a thrown ball to the mechanics of complex machinery.

2. Thermodynamics, Waves, and Optics

The universe is constantly vibrating, radiating, and transferring energy. This exploration shifts the focus from macro-objects to the microscopic motions and wave behaviors that define how we experience heat, sound, and light.

  • Key Themes: Thermal energy and the laws of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, mechanical waves (sound), and the behavior of light (geometric and physical optics).
  • The Big Picture: You will discover how heat moves engine pistons, how musical instruments create resonance, and how lenses bend light to reveal the microscopic and the cosmic.

3. Electricity, Magnetism, and Modern Physics

The forces that power our modern world are largely invisible, yet they follow incredibly precise mathematical rules. This exploration connects classic electromagnetic theory to the revolutionary concepts of the 20th century and beyond.

Regardless of the path you choose, every Centripetal Education course is built on the same core pillars:

Active Inquiry: We start with phenomena, not definitions. You will observe, question, and build models based on evidence.

Deep Conceptual Focus: Math is the language of physics, but conceptual understanding is the story. We prioritize the why behind the math.

Interactive Sandbox Tools: You won’t just look at diagrams; you will interact with digital simulations and modeling tools to test your hypotheses in real time.
